Summer Lawns Works is a company I started for myself and artists that I love. After 3 years of building the Domino Records US office from my East Village bedroom and departing right after launching Arctic Monkeys’ debut single, I ran the XL Recordings office from 2005-2016. While there I signed Vampire Weekend, Tyler the Creator, Titus Andronicus, Sigur Ros, Thom Yorke and ran each of their global marketing campaigns. Adele, FKA Twigs, SBTRKT and The xx were signed from the UK and I developed all of them in the US on their debut albums. I stepped into the major label world at Nonesuch / Warner in 2016, which gave me the opportunity sign incredible albums by Fleet Foxes, Rostam, David Byrne, Mountain Man and Vagbon. After late 2020 Covid year layoffs, I set up an office that winter in Los Angeles in order to build this next step and collaborate with artists and labels that I chose. Since then, I’ve created a self contained management side- representing June McDoom, Hand Habits, and Hurray For The Riff Raff; and a consulting side where I advise labels on everything and anything that’s needed. Matsor Projects continues a nearly 2 decade relationship with Rostam, who I met in 2007 when he was one of the founders and producer of Vampire Weekend. Psychic Hotline was launched by Amelia and Nick of Sylvan Esso and their manager Martin, all of whom worked with me on Amelia’s other group Mountain Man. At Verve & Impulse, I handle A&R for Madison Cunningham, LA LOM, Daniele Luppi, Messthetics + James Brandon Lewis.
